MELON FROM LA MANCHA

“Saccharinus” variety melons, from the “Piñonet” or “Piel de sapo” growers. Our melons typically have an ellipsoidal or ovoid shape. The rind can be smooth or slightly rough, and the average thickness varies between 0.6 to 0.8 cm. The flesh is white or creamy in colour.

Melon from this region is famed for its sweetness, juiciness, and the soft flesh.

Geographical area
The production area for melon from La Mancha lies in the “Mancha” natural region, next to the Alto Guadiana in the Autonomous Community of Castilla–La Mancha. Sello CLM

Melon is a healthy food as a source of vitamin C, which contributes to normal collagen formation for regular bone function, helps reduce tiredness/fatigue and improves iron absorption.

The benefits of this food come when it provides at least 15% of the recommended vitamin C intake, i.e., 12 mg per 100g.

Note that 100 g of melon provides 32 mg of vitamin C.

We recommend eating 5 pieces of fruit and veg per day. 3 can be fruit.
