The subtlety and scent of honey from La Alcarria comes uniquely from the aromatic plants the bees feed on. This helps to create a ‘liquid gold’ with fantastic properties produced locally. Grown in the natural landscapes of Guadalajara and Cuenca, the honey is exclusively floral. There are three different varieties of honey from La Alcarria in Castilla-La Mancha, each with different notes: One made from lavender blossom, another made from rosemary blossom and a honey made from a multi-flower combination from our local nature.

La Miel de la Alcarria honey has been Denomination of Origin-protected since 1992. The production and packaging zone encompasses different municipalities in the agricultural region of La Alcarria, in the provinces of Guadalajara and Cuenca.
La Alcarria is a typical moorland region, spread between the secondary massifs of the Sigüenza Plateau and the Cuenca mountains to the North; the Altomira mountains to the East; the Tajo and Guadiela rivers to the South, which separate it from the monotonous La Mancha plain and the smooth landscape of the Henares countryside to the West. The wild flora is rich in Labiatae such as rosemary, thyme, lavender, savoury, hyssop, marjoram, and other plants such as bearberry and gorse.
Honey from La Alcarria is a healthy food as it provides carbohydrates that contribute to the recovery of normal muscle function after high-intensity or long-term physical exercise.
This food’s benefits come when carbohydrates are consumed at a total intake of 4 g per kg of body weight, taken in several doses and within four hours after completing the physical exercise resulting in muscle fatigue.
Note that 100 g of honey provides 82.4 g of carbohydrates.
We recommended that consumption of free sugars should be less than 10% of total caloric intake to be part of a healthy diet.
